DEF

A gasoline for use as a fuel in spark-ignition aviation engines and having a distillation range usually within the limits of 30 °C and 180 °C.

CONT

Piston engine aircraft use aviation gasoline or avgas. The fuel is high grade (high octane) gasoline. In contrast, jet fuel (generally kerosine) is used in turbine-powered aircraft.

OBS

aviation gasoline: designation and definition standardized by ISO.

OBS

aviation gasoline; AVGAS: designations officially approved by the Department of National Defence and the Canadian Forces and standardized by NATO.

OBS

aviation gasoline: designation standardized by Environment Canada and the Translation Bureau for use in the National Inventory Report and the Air Pollutant Emission Inventory Report.

DEF

CONT

Activin, a member of the transforming growth factor - beta family of peptides, is implicated in the regulation of cell growth and differentiation in a variety of biological systems. We have sought to identify immediate early genes whose altered expression may provide a common nuclear event involved in activin-regulated phenotypic changes in many cell types. In both human K562 myelogenous leukemia and rat PC12 pheochromocytoma cells, activin treatment caused transient transcription-dependent and protein synthesis-independent increases of junB messenger RNA (mRNA) within 1 hour ... OBS

Activin A not only stimulates the synthesis and release of pituitary follicle-stimulating hormones but exerts various effects on haematopoietic cells, embryos, and fibroblasts [Source: PASCAL database].
